Sketches while thinking of a concept.
How humans relate or have a yearning to connect/create inanimate representations of [your theory here]
Thoughts came about while working on my capstone (Rococo and the Girl) while watching Robot Carnival and listening to a podcast on the film Blade Runner…
I kinda see a story concepting… similar to what is conveyed in “presence” (a story in Robot Carnival) and the main theme of Yumiko Kawahara’s Dolls.
Ideas I’m thinking about:
Human need of creating ‘another’, man’s vulnerability and failure to reciprocate the ‘other’s emotions, rejecting the action of nurture. Making rationality out of what is intended to be understood at the sensual level.
Ideas I’ve got from writing:
femininity having to be taken out of the Girl and projected on to the doll (who holds her true self) so that in reality she can be a doll herself, passively manipulated by society.
What kind of plot comes out of this…I have no idea. I did think the Boy and Girl meet, but then I would be writing the beginning of a love story. I’d like to think the two characters would meet in the future but not in the story.
Yea, I think too much…

~Lady Victoria’s Memories of the Fragrant Roses~
1. The first letter of Crown Prince Alexei to his father, Emperor Nicholas II, and his drawing.
2. The diary of Grand Duchess Maria Nikolaevna, 1913.
3. Maria Nikolaevna’s arithmetic exercise book and two sketches from her album of children’s drawings, which had been preserved by the Romanov family, 1905. Does anyone know from which book were the scans taken from?
A statue of Queen Isabel II and her son and heir King Alfonso XII at the Palau Reial de Pedralbe, a building placed in the middle of an ample garden in the district of Les Corts, in Barcelona. The statue was created by Agapit Vallmitjana i Barbany.
After several centuries lying in a dormant state, the muse of the Rococo wakes
in the strangest of settings, in the middle of a riot.
The year is 1968. Tokyo, Japan.
Incoherent shouts and unfamiliar faces enclose around him.
This chaos strikes fear in his mind while the crowds close in around him.
Memories of a revolution long ago~ The day when he fell into the deep sleep.
Must he face his past? His…failure as a muse?
Before losing his balance, afraid of what would happen next,
“Hey, you ok? なあ、大丈夫？”
A section on what I’ve been writing. This isn’t my academic research, but this is a part of my narrative i’ll be using to explain my connection between Rococo and Lolita fashion.
The Muse of the Rococo
The Girl, the essence of Shojo.
This is actually my second part to the narrative. I’ll see if I can get around to drawing for the first part (depicting the fall of the Rococo).
I’ll continue my posts which more of my academic work. ^^;; I seriously need to stop drawing…
✨Rococo and The Girl✨
"In which two aesthetics came together in 1968 on a passionate one night stand and thus conceived what would later become the Lolita Fashion of the 2000’s."
Insane? yes. Controversial? yes. Possibly accurate? surprisingly very much yes!!
